Table tennis friends,
The tournament was, by most accounts, a great success with many surprises. Out
of the eight A seeds, FIVE were upset and went into the Bs. This gave
us a very strong B division. We filled our limit of 40 singles and 16
doubles teams within just a few days after announcing the tournament. We
wish we did not have to limit the events, however with only 8 tables, the tourney still went too long in the day. I
apologize for the long waits and the late finish. Guy and I discussed
this after the tournament and know that one change we will make in next years tourney will be for Guy to calculate the second
singles RR during the doubles event rather than play in it. This should
save considerable time. We are considering other changes as well to
expedite the tourney. Please have patience. This is a learning experience
for me, but each year should improve.
A special congratulations should go to Gordon Dickey
who had probably the best tournament of his life, pulling off several upsets to
win the very strong B division.
